Conventions Of A Horror Film.

Due to watching various different opening titles and trailers on horror movies it is now easier to see what conventions that they use.

Why I believe horror films are made.

  • To entertain but also frighten us at the same time.
  • To make our worst fears into real life.
  • Cause tension and worry.

How film makers use camera shots and music to make a film scary.

  • High and Low shots can imply fear or violence.
  • Point of view shots as you are seeing it from their perspective.
  • Using a heart beat as music.
  • Sounds such as footsteps which you cannot see.

Where they are usually set.

  • Abandoned places e.g derelict buildings.
  • Woods.
  • Typical houses or estates.
  • Less fortunate areas.
